Wistanswick is a small village
about 6 miles away from Market Drayton in North Shropshire.
It consists of less than 50 homes and various farms and businesses.
The local public house 'The Red Lion' closed in 1998 and has
been shut ever since. There is hope that it re-open in the
near future following its recent change of ownership, however,
there is a lot of pessimism amongst the local population following
previous hopes being dashed many times in the past.
|
| The community in the village and surrounding area enjoy the
surroundings of open countryside and quite country living of
this semi-remote part of North Shropshire. The village of Wistanswick
is just off the A41 north of Newport and affords easy access
to many towns and cities. Telford and Shrewsbury are only half
an hours drive from the village and Stoke on Trent, Birmingham
and even Manchester are within a short distance for commuters. |
